Bracknell

Bracknell is set in some stunning countryside, approx 33 miles (53 km) west of London, in the borough of Bracknell Forest, Berkshire. It is beset by deep woods, such as Swinley Wood and Crowthorne Wood. It lends it name to the famous Lady Bracknell, who was one of the main characters in Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest. There is a theatre named after him at south Hall Mansion.

South Hall Mansion is home to an Arts theatre as well as several music festivals, which have included the Womad music festival, as well as jazz and folk / acoustic festivals at this famous mansion which dates back to 1760. It has also been used by the BBC.

Explore the countryside using a classic car from Car Hire Bracknell and you can visit such places as Caesar's Camp, which is a Hill fort from around the Iron Age. It lies to the south-west of the town and is easily reached by car. A must for visitors to Bracknell is a visit to the Old Manor public house, which is one of the oldest buildings in town. The Hind's Head, once stood next door to it and was said to be a favoured haunt of the famous highwayman Dick Turpin.

Bracknell was once the old village of Easthampstead, which has a famous mansion called Easthampstead Park. It was used as a hunting lodge by the infamous King Henry VIII, whose first wife Catharine of Aragon stayed there whilst her husband attempted to gain a divorce, in order to marry Anne Boleyn.

Car Hire Bracknell will provide a map with all of the main attractions of the area, so whether it be a day at South Hall Mansion, a drive out to Easthampstead, a scenic day in the rural setting of Bracknell Forest or a drive round the old buildings of the town, there is always something to take your mind of the stresses of daily life.
