The City of Edinburgh:

Edinburgh is well known for its famous castle and majestic highland scenery. It is the capital of Scotland and includes both a medieval Old Town and the graceful Georgian New Town. The architecture of the area is both fascinating and truly beautiful. The neoclassical buildings are surrounded by gardens, which delight visitors throughout the year. The city’s highlights include:

  • Edinburgh Castle: home to Scotland’s crown jewels and looming over the city it provides spectacular views.
  • Approximately 1 mile to the east of Edinburgh castle is Arthur’s Seat. It is the highest group of hills and provides a hilly and surprisingly wild walk for its visitors.
  • For shopaholics, heading to Princes Street is a must. It is located in the new town and contains an array of high street and designer shops.
  • The Scottish National Gallery is a beautiful neo-classical building located in Central Edinburgh and houses some of the best collections of fine art in the world.
